Building Your Trades Resume: What BC Employers Actually Want to See

Most trades resumes fail not because the worker is unqualified, but because the resume doesn't clearly communicate their value. Here's how to fix that.

Lead with Your Trade and Ticket

Put your ticket status front and center. "Journeyman Electrician – BC Certificate #12345" immediately tells employers you're fully qualified. Apprentice? State your level and hours accumulated.

List Recent Employers and Project Types

Employers want to see: company name, dates, and one sentence about the project scope. "Site electrician for 22-unit residential tower, 2022-2023" is far more useful than "Responsible for electrical tasks."

Keep It to 2 Pages

No one reads a 6-page trades resume. Two pages, clear formatting, honest dates. That's it.
